Abbeyfield operates on a non-profit
basis. It has a core of local and on-site management, care, domestic and maintenance
staff, supported by volunteers. Volunteers do not receive any remuneration, and gifts to
staff and volunteers are discouraged.
Abbeyfield believes firmly that its houses should be accessible to older people no matter
what their income may be. Charges for residents are very reasonable. Roughly half the
residents in its houses pay the charges out of their pension and, if applicable, their
income - often generated by the sale of their house. Residents on a low income can obtain
help through the state benefit system. Abbeyfield does not, and must not, give financial
advice, but they can put people in touch with organisations in a position to help.
Please contact us to determine current charges.
This includes rent, meals and service charges (cleaning, laundry, room redecoration,
personal alarms).
